Last Will & Testament

ELIZABETH WACHTLE

In the name of God, Amen, I Elizabeth WACHTLE of Washington Co, 
in the state of Maryland being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, 
memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the 
uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirour to settle my worldly 
affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it 
shall please God to call me hence do therefore maka and publish this 
my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say -

First and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God 
and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the descretion of my 
Executor herein after named and after my debts and funeral charges 
are paid, I devise and be queath as follows -

I devise to my daughter MARGARET her heirs and assigns, one 
bedstead with all my beding (except one feather bed in the use of 
my son Jonathan & Valentine), one chest with all it contains, one 
kitchen cupboard, all my kitchen furniture, one large wool wheel, 
one small flax wheel, one Jack reel, one table, one stove, three 
chairs, one heifer and all my wearing apparel.

Item - I devise to my son JACOB, his heirs and assigns, one cow.

Item - I devise to my two sons, JONATHAN and VALENTINE, their 
heirs and assigns, two cows, one feather bed and all my stock of sheep 
and hogs to be equally divided between them.

Item - I devise all the remainder and residue of my property not 
hereinbefore mentioned of whatsoever kind, it may be unto my 
daughter Margaret, her heirs and assigns.

And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Valentine to 
be sole Executor of this my last will and testament revoking and 
annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and 
confirm this and none other to be my last will and testament.  In 
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 
this first day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight 
hundred and twenty six.  -  Signed - Elizabeth WACHTLE

Elizabeth Wachtle the above named testatrix as and for her last will 
and testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence 
and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as 
witnesses thereto.

Washington County, to wit - On the 22nd of November 1825, came 
Valentine Wachtle and made oath that this is the true and whole will 
of Elizabeth Wachtle late of said County deceased that hath came to 
his hands and possession and that he doth not know of any other.  -  At  
the same time came Andrew KERSHNER and made oath that he did 
see the testatrix herein named sign and seal this will that he heard her 
publish, pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and testament 
that at the time of her so doing she was the the best of his apprehensions 
of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, that he 
subscribed his name to the will in the presence and at the request of the 
testatrix and that he saw the other subscribing witnesses do the same.  -
