NOTE: This is the document in which James Robertson, Jr. sells his
interest in the land and home plantation to his mother. This land was
eventually willed to his brother, Thomas, when his mother, Rebeckah,
died.

(Robertson to Robertson)
This Indenture made the Twenty seventh Day of December
in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred
and sixty between James Robertson of the parish of Saint
Ann's and County of Albemarle of the one part, and
Rebecka Robertson Widdow and Relect of James Robertson
Deceased of the same parish and County of the other part
Witnesseth that the said James Robertson. That the said
James Robertson for and in consideration of the sum of
Thirty Eight pounds current money of ~ ~Virginia to him in
hand paid before the Sealing & Delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and therewith to
be fully satisfied and paid hath Bargained, Sold, Aliened,
Enscoffed and confirmed, and by these presents doth
Bargain, sell alien Enscoff and confirm unto the said
Rebecka Robertson her Heirs and Assigns forever on
Certain Tract or Parcel of land containing Two hunddred
and sixtyfive acreas of land more or less lying and being
in the County of Albemarle on Taylors Creek a Branch of
Rockfish River, and Bounded on followeth, to wit:
Beginning at a Shrubby Black oak running North forty two
Degrees East ninety four poles to a red oak, North thirteen
Degrees East Sixty poles to point on North one hundred
poles to point on North forty two Degress West one hundred
and seventy six poles to Matthew Robertson's corner tree,
thence South twenty nine Degrees West one hundred and
seventy four poles to a White oak, thence South thirty five
Degrees East two hundred and forty poles to the first Station
Being part of a larger tract granted to John Chiswell of Hanover
County Gent. by patent and by the said John Chiswell conveyed
to James Robertson by a Deed of Sale in fee simple, and the
said James Robertson by his last Will and Testament Willed
and bequeathed the above mentioned tract of land as above
Bounded unto his son James Robertson and his Heirs and
Assigns forever To have and to hold the said Tract of Land
containing two hundred and sixty five acreas as above Bounded,
with all Houses Edifices Buildings Enclosures ways & waters,
profits and Emoluments, whatsoever and the Reversion &
Reversions, Remainder & Remainders thereof and of Every
part or parcel thereof and all the Estate right Title and Interest
whatseover of him the said James Robertson of in and to the
said Bargained premises and every part and parcel to possess
and enjoy the said Tract of Land and all and singular the
premises with the appurtenances unto the said Rebecka
Robertson her Heirs and Assigns to the only proper use of her
the said Rebecka Robertson and her heirs and assigns forever
and the said James Robertson his Heirs and Assigns the said
Tract of

Land and all and Singular the premises with the appurtenances
unto the said Rebecka Robertson her Heirs and Assigns, Shall
and will Warrant and forever Defend by these presents against
any person or persons whatsoever having or Lawfully claiming
any Estate, Right, Title or Interest in or to the same or any part
or parcel thereof, and the said James Robertson for himself his
Extrs and Administrators doth Covenant grant and agree to and
with the said Rebecka Robertson her Heirs and Assigns in manner
and form following (that is to say) that the James Robertson at the
time of Sealing and Delivery of these presents hath full power and
authority to sell and convey the said the said Land and premies in
manner aforesaid, and that the said Rebecka Robertson her Heirs
& Assigns shall and may forever hereafter peaceably and Quietly
have hold, possess and enjoy all and singular the premises with
the appurtenances withouth let suit or molestation of any person or
peresons whatsoever haveing or Lawfully Claiming any Estate,
Right title or Interest in or to the same or any part of parcel thereof
and that the said Tract of Land and premises with the appurtenances
shall and will forever hereafter remain to the said Rebecka Robertson
her Heirs and Assigns freed and Discharged of and from all former
Estates Rights titles Dowers Debts, Judgements Executions, and
other Incumbrances whatsoever and that the said James Robertson
and his Heirs shall and will at any Time within the space of Twenty
years next after the Date of these presents do and Execute any other
Act or Acts conveyance or conveyances necessary in the Law for the
further and better adjoining and conveying the said Land and premises
with the appurtenances unto the said Rebecka Robertson her Heirs and
Assigns or by the said Rebecka Robertson her Heirs and Assigns or
her Council learned in the Law shall be Divised advised or Required In
Witness whereof the said James Robertson hath hereunto set his hand
and affixed his Seal the Day and year above written.
