Mrs. Minnie E. Dudley, wife of Tucker Dudley, was born
April 28, 1865, and died at her home near Pekin, Saturday,
April 23, 1892, aged 27 years and one day. After a short
service at the house on April 25th, her body was tenderly
laid to rest in the Elrod grave yard. She was the eldest
daughter of Wm. S. and Melissa Walker and leaves a husband,
three children, parents and two sisters to mourn her loss,
together with many sypathizing friends.
Deceased was religious from her childhood, and at the age of
twelve years made a public profession with the Christian
church, of which she was a member at the time of her death. To
say that her crhistian fortitued was severely tried in her last illness,
is but to say that she was human, yet though her suffering was great,
her triumph was complete. Death came unheralded, and so quickly
chilled with his touch the vital powers that there was no time for
parting words, and she left no dying but a living testimony. Her
excellences were so many that her faults easily disappear in comparison.
Her pleasant ways and her kind and cheerful disposition won for her
a wide circle of friends, from which she will be sadly missed, but her
memory will ever be associated with our fondest recollections and
forever cherished.
