Death of Mrs. James H. Walker

Mrs. James H. Walker, a pioneer resident of Washington and Floyd
counties, and for many years a resident of New Albany, died Sunday
at her home in Puyallup, Wash., after a short illness following a
stroke of paralysis. She and her husband moved from New Albany to
Puyallup about seven years ago, and news of her death was received
by her son, Louis H. Walker, of New Albany. She is also survived
by four other sons, William A. Walker, of South Boston, Ind.;
Amos Walker, of Los Angeles, Cal., and Professor Edward B. Walker
and George Walker, of Puyallup. She was eighty years old and was a
native of Washington county. She was a member of the Methodist
church and had a wide acquaintance in new Albany. The burial
will be in Puyallup.

Thomas B. Walker

Thomas B. Walker was born at South Boston, October 4, 1829. He
was united in marriage to Julia May, October 15, 1857. To this
union were born eleven children, four having preceded their father
in death, three of whom died in infancy and Harvey who died last
January. Those surviving are: Charles O., of Bedford; Mrs. Lizzie
McClellan, Salem; Mrs. Laura Snyder, of Jeffersonville; Thomas
J. and Mrs. Lula Howell, of Salem and Mrs. Viola Voyles and
Mrs. Flo Elrod, of Pekin. Besides these he raised three orphan
children, Mrs. Mary mcClellan, Mrs. Lola Kelly and Samuel Mitchell.
He united with the Methodist church in middle life and was a faithful
and regular attendant at church services.
For the past five years he has been an invalid, his death occurring at
4:40 Friday evening caused by the infirmaties of old age, at the
residence of his daughter, Mrs. Seth Howell, where he and his son
Thomas have made their home the past six months.
The funeral took place at Conway Chapel, Sunday afternoon at 1
o'clock conducted by Rev. H. Jos. Black.
