John H. Keith
Funeral Services to Be Held at Westport
Christian Church Wednesday

Funeral services will be held at the Westport Christian Chruch 
at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for John H. Keith, 83, who died at his 
home in Westport Monday afternoon after a long illness.

The Rev. J. C. Nicholson will officiate and burial will be in the
Westport cemetery.

Mr. Keith, the last of his immediate family, was born in Missouri 
on June 3, 1865, the son of James and Susanna (Van Treese) 
Keith.  His parents brought the family to Indiana about the time 
of the Civil war, where he remained since.  He was a railroader 
since youth, at the time of his retirement about 14 years ago 
serving as section foreman on the Westport division of the C. M. 
& St. P. railroad.

He was a member of I. O. O. F. lodge No. 681 and of the Rebekahs,
and belonged to the Christian church.  He is survived by one 
daughter, Mrs. Effie Armstrong, of Westport, who had been living 
with her father, and five sons:  Fred and Irwin, of Westport; Harry, 
of Shirley;  Perry, of Gary, and William of Elwood.  There are also
sixteen grandchildren.

NOTE: Although the newspaper article stated year of birth as 1865, this should be 1855. The father died in the Civil War in 1863, a month after the youngest child was born.
