DEATH'S WORK
John Sinex, aged 87

John Sinex - familiarily known as "Uncle John" - died
this morning of old age. Some months ago he was
partially paralyzed, but his great vitality held out
under the stroke until life's candle fairly burned to
the socket and went out from exhaustion.

John Sinex was born in Newcastle County, Delaware,
December 27, 1794, and was therefore eighty-seven
years two months and four days old at his death. He
was a man of the most vigorous constitution though
he had for many years endured much suffering from
rupture, but without being to any great degree weakened
in strength.

He was the father of Capt. Edward Sinex, for the past
thirty-three years a compositor in the Ledger office and
an active member of the fire department, and of Mrs.
Alfred H. Nunemacher, and of Mr. James Sinex, of the
Glass Works, and a brother of the late Thomas Sinex.

He was known to nearly every citizen of Floyd County,
having served as Coroner of the county for eighteen years.
He took in his residence in New Albany in 1838, and
resided in the city forty-four years.

His funeral will take place at 10 o'clock on Monday
afternoon.
