NOTE: John J. Brown was an alias that my grandfather Rome Waughtel used
for many years. I do not have the full particulars nor complete story
for his actions in so doing. They were married under this alias, of
which I have a copy of the marriage record wherein the name had been
changed (at a somewhat later date it looks to be) and although my father
Roma James Waughtel was born during this interim, he was not named
immediately after birth, and from what I recall my grandmother stating,
a neighbor lady finally named him since my grandmother's thoughts were
that he should not be named until he could pick his own name. Their is
no birth record filed for him in the State of Wyoming, under either Roma
James Waughtel or Roma James Brown, as they have told me records were
not kept prior to 1909, and although he was born in 1910, records were
sporadic. At least I and my siblings were born under the Waughtel
surname. Antoinette
